What are some of your biggest DREAMS??? Email me I want to know!
I had quite a few growing up 3 actually.
1.) Run in the Olympics
3.) Become an Artist
I was a dreamer... I thought of jobs as a magical findings of oneself. I did not think about making money, or supporting myself. I thought merely what would purely make me happy. There was only LOVE I was seeking. The artist in me views life very differently, emotionally... and to the extreme a lot of the time. Growing up I was a super competitive hard working child. It is sad when I look back and realize how much drive I had lost.
So... I did try to pursue these dreams and in some instances succeeded.
After high school I began college at Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville. There I ran on scholarship while also majoring in studio art. At this point I cared a lot more about running than a career. Running of course was going to be a career in my mind. My plan was that some coach would pick me up after I graduated and be ready to train me!! Just wait for it...
While in college I had joined a modeling organization and started to do TFP (trade for photo) with photographers in the area to build up my portfolio. I had applied to some agencies but never got a call back. Most modeling agencies want 5'8" girls or taller. Being 5'3" didn't quite match up with the requirements, so I kept taking photos trying to post them and get noticed by an eye. One of my last photo shoots was a stock photography shoot. This is where your photos can be sold and used anywhere. On three separate occasions people had contacted me saying they saw me in a yoga text book or a health supplement poster even a club promotion. Great i was thinking, but there's no pay in it. Finally, I got into a talent agency located right out side St. Louis MO 15 mins from my home at the time. There was an opportunity to be an extra in a commercial shoot. It was fun and i had a blast!!! I couldn't wait to go to more auditions and get perhaps an acting gig. Another great opportunity came while I was working at Gold's Gym at my first personal training job in 2014. A member at Gold's asked me to model for New Balance which was amazing! The photos had gotten onto there website and everything. It was great to finally get paid for what I had worked hard to do. You all can check them out in my fitness modeling portfolio. Some great things were starting to happen.
...Did you wait for it...
After college I did have a coach approach me to start running professionally. Unfortunately he contacted me right after I had severely tore my right hamstring in a water skiing accident in August 2013. Running became hell. I couldn't even run for a full 3 months. Physically couldn't even lift my leg. Coming back was tough.
My coach was great. Very smart and knew numbers so well. He was very devoted to me. The move to St. Louis was partially led by being closer to my coach. This allowed better modeling opportunities too yay! But, LOVE happened. I ended up moving to Texas after marring my husband on July 31st 2015. Marriage is something that always came before any of these dreams. It was the most important thing in my life that I wanted. Someone to understand every crack to my skin, and every secret behind my eyes. I yearned for a forever mate to explore the sparkles of life with. This is where my dreams became foggy in areas and more clear in others. Life became more real.
Running is a constant battle, Modeling fades as looks do, and Art is another story to tell...
It is okay if DREAMS change for CHANGE is the only certainty in life.
